William E. Mares

On Sunday, November 29th , 2020, William passed away at the age of 95. He was followed by his beloved
wife Susie on Saturday, February 6th , 2021 at the age of 96. William was preceded in death by his
daughter Diana Barilone of Riverside, CA, and his grandson William Mares Jr. He is survived by his son
William Mares of Riverside, CA, his wife Gloria, his children Jennifer Hobson (Chad) and Kristina Reel,
Diana’s children Stacy Sooter (David), and Jonathon Barilone (Brianna), his daughter Evelyn Suplee of
Riverside, CA, her husband Fred and their children Amanda, Ashley, and Amber, and great-grandchildren
Madison, Chyanne, Aiden, Charis, Zoë, and Levi.
William was born on October 2nd , 1925 in Montana, the oldest of fourteen children. He was a farmer for
the first part of his life until he enlisted in the Army in 1950. Having served his time, he then worked in
construction and finally retired from the United States Post Office in 1986. He loved reading his
Westerns and will forever be remembered as “The Baby Whisperer.”
William and Susie celebrated their 70th anniversary on November 26th , 2020.
They both loved the Lord and made Him the center of their lives. Raising their children and being that
example was the most important part of their lives.
He was surrounded by loved ones and in his own home when he passed.

Graveside service will be on Friday, April 16, 2021 at 10:45 AM in Riverside National Cemetery, Riverside, California.
