William Stoddard Bringhurst, 52, of Victorville, California, passed away on September 10, 2023,
in Riverside, California after a long battle with Multiple Myeloma.
He is survived by brothers, Mark Bringhurst and Robert Bringhurst, sisters Sharon Yates and Lisa
Bringhurst, parents Fred and June Bringhurst, five nieces, four nephews, three grandnieces, and
two grandnephews.
Bill was born in Riverside, CA to Fred and June Bringhurst on November 2, 1970. He attended
schools in Colorado, Michigan, and Riverside, CA, graduating from John W. North High School in
1989. He was active in the band (drums), swim team, and water polo team.
Bill attended BYU Hawaii for one year, enjoying the school and surfing with friends and his
brother Mark, who was stationed there with the Air Force. Returning to the mainland, he
attended San Diego State University, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Arts in 1994.
He then received his teaching credentials from National University.
After graduating, Bill taught sixth grade in Moreno Valley, CA, worked as a dispatcher for Ryder,
and a truck driver for J.B. Hunt, Ruan, and finally Walmart.
Bill was a quiet person, very private, and enjoyed reading. He had a wonderful sense of humor,
was a good conversationalist, and always looked for the good in people. He was kind. He loved
music, playing the guitar, drums, and keyboard. He deeply enjoyed listening to his favorite
musicians. He was the youngest child in our family; we all loved him, and he loved us. He was so
good at fixing things when he visited his parents. He loved his mom’s cooking.
He did so much for his sister, Lisa, when she was recovering from cancer, and she did so much
for him during his battle with cancer.
Bill was a good athlete, excelling in skiing, wakeboarding, surfing, skateboarding and golfing. He
loved being near the water and worked as a lifeguard through his college years. As an adult, he
often lived near water, living at Huntington Beach, Canyon Lake, and Spring Valley Lake in
Victorville. He was skiing and golfing with family members until his cancer metastasized a few
months ago.
He died peacefully at his mom and dad’s home, surrounded by loved ones. We love Bill and will
miss his gentle nature. We are grateful that we had him in our family for fifty-two years. We
know that he is in his Heavenly Father’s care and that we will see him again.
A gathering of family and friends will be on Thursday, September 28, 2023 at 10 O'Clock in the morning in Grimes-Akes Family's "Grace Chapel". Funeral service will begin at 10:30 with graveside service to follow at Pierce Brothers Crestlawn Memorial Park at 2:00 PM, Riverside, California.
