STEFFEN GOLTRA Obituary

Steffen Lawrence Goltra passed away into the arms of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on October 2, 2025, surrounded by family in the comfort of his home in Huntington Beach, California, at the age of 83. He was born on August 15, 1942, in Long Beach, California, to the late Lawrence Prince Goltra Jr. and Erma Hazel Nagel. Steffen, always a patriot, proudly served as a Navy Corpsman. He later earned a bachelor’s degree from Cal State Dominguez Hills and worked as a successful insurance agent and broker for over 40 years. The personal and professional relationships he established with his clients endured for decades.

He married the love of his life, Tanis Jane Knobel, on November 6, 1970. Their unwavering devotion to one another created a beautiful legacy for their children and grandchildren. He will always be remembered as a loving father who put his family first and as the very best “Pompa” to his grandchildren. Steffen’s generous heart and affectionate nature made others feel loved and valued.

One of his most defining qualities was his deep faith in Jesus Christ and his genuine joy in sharing God’s word with others. He was never ashamed of the gospel of Christ and lived his faith openly and wholeheartedly. We take great comfort in knowing he is now with the Lord and reunited with loved ones who have gone before him, especially his beloved Grandma Nagel.

Steffen is survived by his wife of nearly 55 years, Tanis Jane Goltra; daughters Angela Gail Kelsey and Susan Christine Burgoyne; son Steffen Michael Goltra; grandchildren Lauren Kelsey, Lindsey Kelsey (White), Landon Kelsey, Olivia Kelsey, Adam Burgoyne, Mollyanne Burgoyne (Trevisanut), and Victoria Burgoyne (Hancock); and three great-grandchildren: Juliet, Hayden, and Florence. He is also survived by his brothers Gary (Becky) and Gene (Susan) Goltra.

A graveside service with military honors will be held at Riverside National Cemetery in Riverside, California, on October 10, 2025, at 10:15 a.m.
Arrangements are entrusted to the care of Akes Family Funeral Home, Riverside, California.
