In Loving Memory
Sinforiano Reyna Godinez
August 22, 1940 – May 24, 2022
Sinforiano Reyna Godinez, Papa Sinfo, passed away peacefully in his home in Corona, California. He went to be with his Lord on Tuesday, May 24th, 2022, at the age of 81. He is survived by his loving wife Celia Reyna of fifty-nine years, his seven children: Filiberto, Esther, Moises, Beatriz, Minerva, Angelica, and Elizabeth. Lovingly remembered by his grandchildren: Filiberto Jr, Carolina, Sandra, Ruben, Diana, Moises, Santiago, Gary, Jessy, Bryan, Samantha, Karina, Brenda, Ivette, Michael, Jair, and Gissele. In addition to his two great-grandchildren: Evelyn and Diego.
Sinforiano was born on August 22th, 1940 in the municipality of Quechultenango, in the state of Guerrero, south-western Mexico. At the age of 21 he began working in the fields during the Bracero program, a U.S. contract labor program established during WWII. He faced many hardships working to provide a living for his family in Mexico. Even after moving to California, where he later received residency, many of his children stayed behind in his home country. Regardless of the hardships that his physical labor afflicted on his body, he remained an optimistic and resilient person. Sinforiano was known to be sincere, and he welcomed anyone into his home with kindness. In October 2020 he was diagnosed with stage four cancer, even after receiving the diagnosis and chemotherapy treatments he continued to stay strong and brave. His diagnosis did not halt his daily routine of attending to his garden nor did it stop him from giving all his love to his family. His memory and work philosophy lives on throughout his children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and future generations to come. He provided the American dream for us. For his hard work and dedication to his family we will be forever grateful.
