SERAFIA ARROZAL SHOPE

Serafia A Shope " Chris, Ising, Sarah" passed away in Riverside on August 31, 2021.  She was born on February 24,1934 to Jose and Arcadia Arrozal in Pampanga Philippines. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers. Eldest Benjamin Arrozal, and Youngest Narciso Arrozal, also Husband Charles Edward Shope.
Chris dedicated her life to ensuring the happiness and well being of her two children. She lives in the hearts of her Daughter Christy Ann Shope, and Son Robert Shope and countless friends young and old. She loved cooking and gardening.

Chris arrived from the Philippines in 1960 with Charles and Christy Ann.  Charles was stationed at Andrews Air Force base in Maryland  for a brief period because he was order to return to Clark Air Force Base in the Philippines. In 1964 they returned to America to Norton Air Force Base in San Bernardino and ended up living out her life in the Inland Empire.

Chris worked at Fedco department store until she wanted to follow her passion of teaching. Chris enrolled at San Bernardino Valley College in the early 70's and worked as a Teachers Aide during the day and attended classes in the evening.  She obtained her AA in Liberal Arts in 1975. A year prior she became a U.S. Citizen, very defining moments in her life. She later enrolled at CSUSB to pursue her dream of becoming a Teacher. The passage of Prop 13 in 1978 basically devastated CA school system which led to eliminating funding for Teacher Aides. Chris had her children to provide for so she had to peruse other means of employment. She started working as a Caregiver and later became a owner of her own room and board facility.
 
Visitation will be Tuesday, September 28, 2021 from 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM Grimes-Akes Family's "Grace Chapel".
Graveside service to follow on September 28, 2021 at 1:30 PM at Riverside National Cemetery, Riverside, California.
