ROSA CARDOZA

Rosa Cardoza, age 81, of Corona, CA, went home to be with Our Lord God Almighty,
accompanied by Our Holy Mother, on Tuesday, May 26, 2026, at home in Corona, CA.

Rosa was born on April 4, 1945, in Mexico City, the daughter of Jose and Carlota
Gutierrez, and sister to Antonio, Eduardo, Salvador, Carlos, and Josefina Gutierrez.

Rosa immigrated with her family to the United States of America in 1952, settling in
Chino, CA where the Gutierrezes purchased their 10 acre family farm on Flowers St. in 1959.

Rosa was married to Luis Juan Cardoza, of Corona, CA on February 7, 1976 at St.
Edward Church in Corona, CA. The happily holy wedded couple led a model life of honor and
love. God blessed them with 50 years of marriage, which they celebrated on February 7, 2026 at
Our Lady of Hope Church in San Bernardino, CA.

Rosa shared her home on 8th Street in Corona, CA with her husband, her husband’s
Mom, Soledad Cardoza, and her beloved children, Luis Juan, Manuel Candido, Rosa Soledad,
and Vivian Elizabeth Cardoza, comprising the Cardoza Seven. Never was there a moment where
Rosa did not exude monumental patience, rich kindness, deft humor, grounded wisdom, and
inexhaustible faith to her family and all those who interacted with her.

For over 30 years, Rosa was a Lunch and Playground Supervisor for the Corona-Norco
Unified School District at Jefferson Elementary School. From 1990 through 2022, Rosa
impacted the lives of thousands of students and hundreds of staff members, many of whom
continue to speak lovingly of the kind and motherly presence of Rosa many years later.

As a pillar of the community and of the Roman Catholic Church, Rosa had a profound
faith in God. She had a devotion of listening to God’s loving message, whether it be at Mass, in
books, or on television and YouTube. Many people have described her as saintly. Truly, Rosa
lived her profound faith in the constant service of others.

Despite having a quiet demeanor, Rosa was immensely intelligent, had a great
appreciation of beauty, and had a vast variety of interests, including being well-read, movies,
gardening, fixing things around the house, sports, music and musicals, languages, writing,
drawing, mathematics, cooking, baking, sewing, current events, history, and the lives of Saints.

Rosa and Luis have been blessed thus far with four grandchildren: Ezra, Bela, and Levi
Castro and Luis Cardoza IV. She was very proud of her children and grandchildren, and never
was known a time that she did not have time for her entire family - cooking and tending to them,
helping with homework, practicing sports, listening about their interests, mending their clothes
and heartaches, dispensing wisdom, healing tearful sorrows, attending births, birthdays, award
ceremonies, graduations, and Sacraments, and teaching how to pray and honor God, our Blessed
Mother, all the Saints and Angels.

One of Rosa’s countless legacies is that her selflessness and devotion to God has inspired
many, including her children, to enter lives of public, educational, and spiritual service.

Rosa is survived by her loving husband Luis, their children Luis, Manuel, Rosa, and
Vivian, their grandchildren Ezra, Bela, Luis, and Levi, her sister Josefina, and her brother
Eduardo.

Her funeral services shall be on Monday, June 8, 2026 at Our Lady of Hope Catholic
Church at 6885 Del Rosa Ave. San Bernardino, CA. Viewing, Rosary, and eulogies will begin at
10:00 AM. Mass will be celebrated by Bishop Rutilio J. del Riego and Father Erik Esparza
beginning at 11:00 AM. Mass will be followed by a reception at the parish hall. Burial will be at
2:30 PM at Crestlawn Cemetery in the Holy Cross Section, 11500 Arlington Ave, Riverside, CA
92505 and conducted by Father Peter Phan.

Rosa’s family requests that Rosaries be prayed for the eternal rest of our Mama and for
