On April 20, 2020, Ronald Hodgson went to a better place where every golf stroke is a hole in one and where the trout are always biting. He is at peace, reunited with his family, friends and all his beloved animals who were awaiting his arrival.
He had a life of endless variety, wearing many hats; as a cowboy in his youth to serving in the Navy, to majoring in Avian Science at Colorado State University, which ultimately led to the management of a large chicken ranch in California.
Life took some turns and he traded the ranch for the mountains. Mile- high Idyllwild was his home for several years until life found him briefly in Washington State. Though the Pacific Northwest was beautiful, his heart called him back to Riverside county where he met his sweetheart, Judy Hodgson. Quickly, twenty-six years flew by.
Upon retirement from the Riverside County Courthouse, he enjoyed having time for the things he loved best: gardening, golf, camping with Judy, exploring out of the way places, and fixing up his dad’s little fishing boat, the Niwot, often saying you could fix anything with baling wire and duct tape.
Ron is preceded in death by his parents, Chester and Helen Hodgson, and brothers, Warren and Marvin, all residence of Colorado. He is survived by his wife, Judy, children: Kelley Whittaker, Candace Oertle, Brady McClanahan, Timothy Hodgson and Shannon Draper, along with eleven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, and those who loved him as their Papa Ron: TJ, Cameron and Alyssa (Jellybean), as well as numerous family and friends who will miss his endless wit and humor.
