ROBERT LEWIS AVERY passed away peacefully on December 22, 2025 in Riverside California surrounded by family. Carolyn his wife of 71 years was his high school sweetheart. Robert was born July 18, 1933 to loving parents Jesse and Chilnesssia Avery of Kokomo, Indiana.
Robert served his country joining the Navy during the Korean conflict from 1951-1954 and in the reserves from 1954 to 1959 receiving a honorable discharge. He joined the American Legion in 1980 in Mira Loma post 500, in 1983 serving as the Post Commander and the District 21 from 1993-1994. He worked on many programs and became the Vice Commander of the fifth area department of California 1999-2000. He was also the Chef De Gare of 40/8 Voiture 394 1991-1992.
Robert’s hobbies were golf and fishing when he could find the time. He worked for Bridgford Foods of Anaheim, CA as the area manager retiring in 1999 after 36 years.
Robert is survived by his beloved wife Carolyn, loved daughters Jessica Reyes, Theresa Ramsey and April Wilson. Devoted grandfather of 7 grandchildren; R.J. Reyes, Jaclyn Gamboa, Jennifer Sisson, Amber Turner, Amie, Austin and Addam Avery as well as several great-grandchildren. Beloved brother of Virginia Holder and Gerry Avery. Robert was preceded in death by his loving parents Jesse and Chilnessia Avery, his brothers Jack, Larry, sister Beverly and his son Gregory Avery.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, January 13, 2025 in Akes Family's "Chapel of the Chimes" from 9:30am - 11:30am. Funeral Service will be at 11:30am. Graveside service will follow with military honors at Riverside National Cemetery at 1:45pm
