Robert (Bob) Kenneth Fisher passed away at home in Nampa Idaho, surrounded by the love of his family, into our Savior's arms on November 1st 2023 following a brief illness. Bob was born on February 17th, 1934 to Kenneth J. Fisher and Helen M (Taylor) Fisher in Evansville Indiana. A younger brother, James (Jimmy), would join the family in 1936. The family moved west, eventually settling in Riverside California.
Bob attended Magnolia Elementary school, Central Jr. high school and graduated from Poly High school in1953. He excelled in sports and lettered in football, basketball and baseball and made many lifelong friends. During his High School years he worked along with his brother at their fathers Richfield Gas Service Station on Kingman and Magnolia Ave in Arlington. He joined the US Army after graduation serving with the 11th Airborne. Bob returned home after his military commitment was completed and settled in Riverside with his wife, Carol (Iversen), raising their 3 children in the Arlington area of Riverside. Bob was very active in coaching little league teams, motorcycle riding, and he enjoyed taking his family camping and fishing. Bob worked for the City of Riverside Fire Department for 28 years, where he achieved the rank of Captain.
Bob remarried, and relocated to Idaho with his wife Verla (Slagel) shortly after he retired in 1989. Verla passed away after 24 years of marriage in 2012. Bob remarried in 2015 to Susan (Keith). He enjoyed woodworking, golfing, driving his razor, keeping his lawn green and going fishing with his good friends. He was extremely active and enjoyed life and visits from his family.
Bob is survived by his beloved wife Susan, His 3 loving children, Mike (Ann) Fisher of Corona CA, Nancy (Tim) Peck of Riverside CA, and Sandy Prentiss of Anaheim Hills CA.. He was stepfather to Michael (Emily) Leialoha of Rhode Island. He was "Grandpa Bob" to his grandchildren, Katie (Kendal) Pool, Bobby (Amanda) Peck, Stephanie (Reid) Weathers, Stephen (Brielle) Fisher, Nick (Megan) Fisher, Connor (Sofia) Prentiss, Kris Prentiss, and a step grandfather to Shannon (Adam) Hiatt and Charlotte Leialoha. He was "Papa Fish" to Andy, Dana, and Johnny Pool, Emma, Hailey and Ellie Peck, Ember, Isla, and Ford Fisher, and Cale Weathers, and a step grandfather to Christopher, Jacob, Rebekah, and Timothy Hiatt.
Services will be held Friday February 16th, 2024, at 11am at the Riverside National Cemetery with a reception following at the Grove Community Church.
