Ramona Rae Phillips (Mona), 66, of Highland, California, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on November 21, 2025.
Born on December 20, 1958, Mona embraced a life of learning, earning her master's degree and pursuing a fulfilling career as an elementary school teacher. She touched the lives of countless students over the years, instilling in them a love for knowledge and a strong foundation for their futures.
Above all, Mona was a devoted wife, grandmother, and a mother figure to many. Her home was always open, and she extended her maternal warmth not only to her own children, Chris and Kate, but also to their friends, and even their friends' friends. There was always a pot of MO Beans in the refrigerator if you were hungry. This selfless, unconditional love was her greatest legacy and the quality for which she will be most fondly remembered by everyone who knew her.
Mona is survived by her loving husband, Brian Phillips. They shared a beautiful life together, celebrating 47 years of marriage.
She is also survived by her devoted children, Chris Phillips and Kate Phillips; her cherished grandchildren, Jayson Phillips and William Phillips; and her beloved brothers, Anthony (Tony) Higgins and Adam Higgins, and many nieces and nephews.
Mona was preceded in death by her loving parents, Donald Eugene Higgins and Angelita Victoria Valencia (Angie) Higgins.
A Celebration of Life service to honor Mona will be held at The Hideout At Good Trouble Supply Co. on January 10, 2026 at 10:00 am. The family kindly requests that your fond memories and presence are the only tribute required.
