Ramon Valcarcel Sr. passed peacefully on April 2, 2022 at a local hospital. He was surrounded by his wife Herminia (Minnie) Valcarcel and his family. He was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico on April 13, 1923 to the late Nicomedes and Dominga Torres Valcarcel.
A World War II veteran, Ramon served honorably in the US Army from 1943-1946. He received the American Theater Service Medal, the World War II Victory Medal and five overseas service bars.
He moved to New York shortly after being discharged from the US Army and later worked for the US Postal Service for more than 20 years. He faihfully served the Lord and used his unique tenor voice and instrumental ability to minister in music in the church. He also authored several Christian songs.
In addition to his wife Herminia (Minnie) Ramon is survived by his sons: David and wife Ruth; Ramon Jr. and wife Zelma: Joseph and wife Marie; daughter-in-law Sheila; ten grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; brothers: Antonio, Elias, Eliseo and Abner; sisters: Carmen Lydia, Marina, Iluminada, and Esther.
Ramon was preceded in death by his youngest son Michael; brother Jose (Chieto); and sisters Persida and Raquel.
Ramon's favorite scripture and a scripture he quoted throughout his long life is Joshua 24:15 "As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord."
Wednesday, April 27, 2022, private family visitation is from 9:00-9:30am with public visitation from 9:30-10:00am am at Iglesia Pentecostal Emmanuel in Fontana, California
Funeral Service will begin at 10 am following the visitation. Graveside service will follow in Riverside, National Cemetery at 2:15 pm.
