Nathaniel Banks, age 73, passed away on February 7, 2020 in Pomona, California. He was born on September 9, 1946 in Gaston, North Carolina to Elton and Mandy (Lashley) Banks. At the age of 21 Nathaniel enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. He served during Vietnam and earned the National Defense Service Medal, a Purple Heart with star, the Vietnam Service Medal, and the Vietnam Campaign Medal. He was honorably discharged at the rank of Private First Class. He worked as a clerk in the National Museum in Los Angeles for 9 years.
Nathaniel was a loving husband and father. He is survived by his wife Linda Harper-Banks; his children Nathaniel Banks, Jr ( Jazzmin Pettis), Matthew Banks (Antanice Bracken), Robert Banks (Emily), Tracy Harper-Banks; grandchildren Joshua Banks, Jaylyn Banks, Elijah Jordan Banks, Naomi Banks; Sisters Lenna Vinente, Cynthia Toyo (Ron), Harriett Gee, Barbara Greene; Mother-in-law Nercile Washington; nephew Amos Webb Jr.; niece Laterri Dumas who was helping as his caretaker; Sis-in law Alicia Harper; Daughters-in-law Frances Jurado and Jessica Portillo as well as many nieces and nephews on the Banks and Harper side. He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters Mandy Banks, Hattie Hawkins, and Ellen Jones and sis-in-law Robbie Davis. He will be greatly missed by those he knew ans loved.
