MOURIDA SHEHATA BARSOUM

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Mourida Shehata Barsoum on May 7, 2024, at the age of 97. She passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family.

Mourida was born on March 5, 1927, in Alexandria, Egypt. She was a devoted wife, sister, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. Her faith, warmth, kindness, adventurous spirit, and love touched and inspired all who knew her.

Mourida was a woman of great strength and unwavering faith. She faced life's challenges with grace and courage, always putting on Christ. Known for her compassion, generosity, and love for others, her home was always open to family and friends, welcoming everyone with a warm smile and a loving heart.

Mourida will be deeply missed by all who knew her, but her love and memories will live on in their hearts forever.

Mourida was the beloved wife of the late Habib Awad Habashi and cherished sister of the late Mr. Najib Shehata, the late Pastor Barsoum Shehata, the late Father Girgis Shehata, and Mr. Wahib Shahata.

She was the loving mother of Talaat Awad and his wife Nadia Badir, Elia Awad and his wife Fouzia Attani, the late Ezzat Awad and his wife Febee Nashed, Nagat Awad and her late husband Ageeb Habashi, Rafat Awad Habashy and his wife Amal Riad. Mourida leaves behind 17 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren, who were the light of her life.

A funeral service to honor and celebrate her remarkable life will be held on Monday, May 20, 2024, at 10:00 AM at St. Abanoub & St. Anthony Coptic Orthodox Church, located at 2345 Fifth St, Norco, CA 92860. The burial will take place at Elsinore Valley Cemetery, 18170 Collier Ave, Lake Elsinore, CA 92530, followed by a reception at Golden Corral Buffet & Grill located at 18625 Dexter Ave, Lake Elsinore, CA 92532.

The family will be accepting condolences immediately following the church service.
