Mary E. Schmidt, 87, passed away on October 27, 2023 in Fountain Valley, California. She was born to Lynnie and Norma Clark who had eight children. Mary met her soon to be husband, Ed at a dance in St. Louis. She was married almost 50 years before Ed passed. Together they had 4 children. Due to Ed's occupation they moved around frequently and lived in many states and countries.
Mary was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She was primarily a homemaker. Her hobbies included: reading, shopping at thrift stores, and cooking. She was a great cook! Mary was preceded in death by her husband Ed, and 3 other children. Her son Chris passed away about 9 years before her. Mary is survived by her daughter Elizabeth, her son-in-law Jim, her 2 grandchildren Kevin and Megan, and her youngest sister Bonnie. Her grandchildren meant the world to her. Her grandson Kevin stated that "Grandma's impact upon my childhood gave way to the proud married man that I am today. My earliest memories of grandma were joyful. I remember us playing fishing games that deeply impacted my love of fishing. I will always carry a part of her with me". Her granddaughter Megan stated that "My grandma played a huge role in my life. Memories of my grammy consisted of trips to the 99 Cent Store, late night talks, playing dance games and celebrating many holidays. She was my biggest cheerleader, and my favorite hair client. Her overwhelming love for my brother and I will be forever cherished". She appreciated how much her daughter Elizabeth helped her after her husband passed.
She will be buried at the Riverside National Cemetery on November 9, 2023 next to her husband Ed.
