Margaret (Maggie) Gulu, 80, passed away peacefully at Riverside Community
Hospital on January 27, 2023. She fought a courageous battle with Alzheimer’s.
Maggie was born April 19, 1942 in Oelrichs, South Dakota to Newton and
Gertrude Blesh. On August 17, 1968, Maggie was united in marriage to Nick
Gulu in Monrovia Liberia, Africa. She delighted in over 46 years of blissful
marriage until Nick’s passing in 2014.
Enjoying her retirement from the Social Security Administration, Maggie, as a
certified Master Gardener, spent many days tending to her beautiful fruit
trees and various plants.
Maggie was an avid reader and enjoyed many home projects. She also was a
world traveler. Maggie loved sharing her travel adventures to the Congo, the
Orient, and many other exotic destinations.
Maggie was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Jack Blesh, Fredrick
Blesh, Charles Blesh, Harold Blesh, George Blesh, and sister Helen Joseph and
sister-in-law’s Elizabeth Blesh and Elsie Blesh. Maggie is survived by many
nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of many other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be on Thursday, February 23, 2023 at 10:30 in the morning in Grimes-Akes Family's "Grace Chapel", Corona, California.
Funeral services will begin at 11:30 am
Interment will be at 1:30 pm at Riverside National Cemetery, where she will be reunited with Nick forever.
