LEE GROSS Obituary

Lee Richard Gross, 77, passed away on November 6, 2025 in Perris, California. He was born on June 4, 1948 in Riverside, California to William Richard Gross and Netia Jeannette (Hamilton) Gross. Lee spent his childhood in Riverside and graduated from Riverside Polytechnic High School in 1966. He was drafted into the Army in 1968 and was honorably discharged in 1970 after serving with the 566th Transportation Company in Vietnam.

He married Mary Beth Sumners in February of 1975 and they had over 50 happy years together. Over the years he worked as a Laboratory Helper at UCR Riverside, then as a Laboratory Assistant, an Agricultural Technician for the CA Dept of Food and Agriculture, finally as an Agricultural Science Research Technician for the USDA in Riverside California. He was an essential person working on the Huanglongbing citrus greening disease preserving the citrus genomes and making sure the greenhouses did not leak.

Lee enjoyed sketching and painting, cars and motorcycles and handwriting. He loved the Lord and attended Harvest Christian Fellowship.

Lee is survived by his wife Mary Beth, his siblings Shera Lynn Aguilera, Larry Gross and his wife Karen, and David Gross as well as his niece Jana (Joey)

Graveside service will be on Wednesday, December 3, 2025 at 11:15 in the morning at Riverside National Cemetery, Riverside, California.
