John Preston Smith

John Preston Smith, Jr., 94 passed away on August 27, 2020 in Riverside, California. He was born on October 25, 1925 in Phoenix, Arizona to Edward and Eunice (Harrell) Laine, Sr. 

John served his country in the United States Marine Corps from 1943 – 1944. He worked as a carpenter for the city government for 20 years. John has been in Riverside County for over 60 years. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. John enjoyed playing chess, working with wood and building things, and collecting stamps and coins.

John was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Arlington Ward. He is survived by his wife Nancy, his children Matthew Smith, Mark Smith, Luke Smith, John Smith, Kenneth Smith and Edward Smith. Beloved grandfather of 11 and great-grandfather of 9. Loving brother to Lloyd Laine and Richard Laine.
