It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Josephine (Oteri) Schmidt, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother, who peacefully departed this life at the age of 102. Born on October 30, 1922, in Belmont, Massachusetts, she lived a long and fulfilling life.
She was a devoted wife to Donald P. Schmidt, with whom she shared over 50 years of loving companionship. Their bond was a testament to enduring love and mutual respect. As a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, she emphasized the value of resiliency and importance of family.
A lifelong lover of the California mountains, she found solace and inspiration at the cabin she and her husband restored. She also held a deep appreciation for antiques, finding beauty and history within each piece. She especially enjoyed spending time searching for and restoring old treasures.
She is survived by:

Her grandchildren, Anthony J. Colosimo, Eva Helt, Tamara Colosimo, Shannon Casselman, Jo Colosimo, Sharon Fine, Rebecca Flores, and Kevin Costello
14 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren
She is preceded in death by her husband, Donald Schmidt, her eldest son, Anthony Colosimo, and her daughter, Elizabeth Colosimo.
Visitation will be on Thursday, April 17, 2025 from 10am-12pm in Akes Family's "Chapel Of The Chimes" with funeral service to follow at 12 n oon.
Interment will be at 2pm at Riverside National Cemetery, Riverside, California.
