IRENE CATHERINE CLEARY

Irene Catherine Cleary, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully
in her sleep at her home in Menifee, California, on May 20, 2026, comforted by the love of her
family and the faith that guided her throughout her life.
Born on May 16, 1943, in Dublin, Ireland, Irene carried her Irish heritage with pride throughout
her life. Following her marriage to Denis Cleary on April 1, 1964, the couple began their journey
together in America, building a life founded on faith, devotion, perseverance, and family.
A lifelong Catholic, Irene's faith served as a source of strength and comfort throughout her life.
She was devoted to her family and found her greatest joy in the relationships she cultivated with
those she loved.
Irene spent most of her adult life on Long Island, New York, where she and Denis established
their home and raised their family. Later in life, she resided in England, New Jersey, and
ultimately Southern California, where she spent her final years.
Irene was preceded in death by her loving parents, Margaret and Finbar Hurney of Dublin,
Ireland, and her cherished younger sister, Margaret Buch of New Jersey, who passed away on
July 11, 2017. While their loss was deeply felt throughout the years, her family finds peace in
knowing they are reunited once again.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Denis Cleary; her son, Mark Cleary; her daughter-in-
law, Natalie Taylor; her cherished grandchildren, Mark and Brooklyn; along with her bonus
grandchildren, Raylena, Mariah, James, and Alisea. She also leaves behind extended family
members and dear friends whose lives were enriched by her kindness, generosity, and
unwavering love.
Irene will be remembered for her strength, compassion, faith, and unwavering dedication to her
family. Her legacy lives on through the generations she helped shape and the countless lives she
touched throughout her 83 years. Her family takes comfort in knowing she has been welcomed
into the loving embrace of the Lord and reunited with those who have gone before her.
A funeral service celebrating Irene's life will be held on June 19, 2026 In Akes Family's "Chapel Of the Chimes" at 11 am. Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance, prayer, and thanksgiving for a life well lived.
May she rest in eternal peace.
