FLORENCE EVELINE HENDRIX

Florence Eveline Hendrix, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and devoted servant of her faith, passed away peacefully on July 4, 2025, at Loma Linda University Medical Center. She was 83 years old.

Born on May 2, 1942, in Tulare, California, Florence was the daughter of Teddy R. Martin and Bertha E. Martin. She was raised in Stockton, California, where her strong values and deep faith began to take root. With a heart for service and a lifelong love of learning, she dedicated herself to helping others in both her professional and spiritual life.

Florence worked for 31 years as a teacher’s aide, where her kindness, patience, and gentle spirit touched the lives of countless students. For more than five decades, she faithfully taught Sunday school, finding joy and purpose in guiding children along their spiritual journeys. Her passion for nurturing young minds—in the classroom and in the church—was a defining part of her life.

She is survived by her loving husband of 64 years, Oscar Hendrix; her children, Tim and Phyllis; her brother, Ted Martin; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her brother, Vester Martin. As the heart of her family, Florence was a devoted and supportive matriarch who helped raise not only her children but also her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, instilling in them the values of faith, kindness, and perseverance.

Florence had a gentle soul and found joy in life’s simple pleasures. She loved crocheting, playing the organ and piano, and spending time with her family. Her warmth, faith, and unwavering devotion to others will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

A funeral service to celebrate Florence’s life will be held on Friday, July 25, at 11:00 a.m. at First Missionary Baptist Church in Redlands, California. All are welcome to attend and honor her memory.
