EULA GENTRY Obituary

Eula Jean Gentry
August 16, 1942 – September 6, 2025

Eula Jean Gentry, 83, entered peacefully into the presence of the Lord on September 6, 2025. A loving wife, mother, grandmother, and mentor, Jean will be remembered for her gentle spirit, sharp mind, and unwavering devotion to her family and the many students whose lives she touched.

Born on August 16, 1942, in Louisville, Kentucky, Jean was the cherished only child of Anabelle and David Summers. She spent her early years surrounded by cousins and lovingly raised by her grandmother. During her teenage years, the family relocated to Cincinnati, where she later met and married Paul Gentry in August 1969.

Highly educated and gifted in her field, Jean worked as a computer systems analyst for more than 45 years. Her career took her to respected institutions and companies, including Procter & Gamble, Northrop Grumman, California State University, San Bernardino, and the University of California, Riverside. Her brilliance, dedication, and mentorship left an indelible mark on colleagues and students alike.

After retirement, Jean devoted herself wholeheartedly to her greatest joy—her family. For years, she made a daily one-hour commute to help care for her beloved granddaughters, Ella and Ruby, treasuring every moment with them. Her kindness, patience, and wisdom were gifts she generously shared with all who knew her.

Jean is survived by her devoted husband, Paul; her children, Michael Gentry (Ivy) of  California, Ron Gentry (Geneva) of Ohio, and daughter Charlotte Gentry Sanford (Darren) of North Carolina; and her treasured grandchildren, Eleanor and Ruby Gentry, Marion Gentry, and Darren and D’Mya Sanford. She is preceded in death by her daughter, Tracy Lynn Holland, whom she longed to see again.

A graveside service will be held at Riverside National Cemetery on Friday, September 12, at 9:45 am. A memorial and celebration of her life will follow on October 25, where family and friends will gather to honor the remarkable woman who meant so much to them.

Jean’s life was a testament to love, perseverance, and faith. She will be deeply missed, yet her legacy will continue to shine through the lives of her family and all who were blessed to know her.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 25, 2025, 3:00 pm in the afternoon at The Flipside Church located at 10912 Jersey Blvd., Rancho Cucamonga, CA 91730.
