Esther Louise Benson, age 97, of San Bernardino, passed away on August 5, 2022, with
her husband Billy by her side.
Esther was born on October 25, 1924, in Washington, GA. She enlisted in the Navy as a
Seamen 1st class in 1945 and served until -----1946. For her service, Esther was
authorized to wear the World War II Victory Ribbon.
She held several positions including working at the US War Department, Office of the
US Army, was a proctor for Los Angeles County, and worked for several Non-Profit
Organizations. Additionally, she served as a Court Recorder for a Federal Bankruptcy
Judge and travel to several places Including Alaska, Utah, and Northern California.
Esther believed in education as she was always taking classes. In 1999, she was invited
to apply for the Sally Casanova California Pre-Doctoral Program due to her excellent
academic record at Cal State LA.
Esther gave her life to Christ at a young age and was a strong believer in keeping her
loved ones continuously covered in prayer. Her husband attributes his faith to Esther,
who lead him to the Lord.
In 2006 she married Billy Benson who she said, was “The best thing that ever happened
to her…. but don’t tell him" ; They shared many common Interests over the years, but
the bond that held them together was their love of the Lord and the work they did
together in his name.
Esther is survived by her husband, Billy, and a host of family and friends. If you had a
relationship with Esther, you became her family. She will be truly missed!!
Graveside service will be on Thursday, August 25, 2022 at 12:30 PM in Riverside National Cemetery, Riverside, California.
