ENEDINA GONZALEZ Obituary

Enedina T. Gonzalez was born October 3, 1940 in Brackettville, Texas to Rudolph E. and Mercy Luna Castro. She passed away on April 26, 2024, in Corona, CA. "Dina", as she was known to family and friends, always had a love for her hometown of Brackettville. She kept fond memories of her growing up years with her grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins.

In 1956 the Castros moved from Eagle Pass, Texas to San Pedro, California. Dina was a 1959 graduate of San Pedro High School and later became a hairstylist after finishing cosmetology coursework at Harbor City College. She enjoyed her career at Dimitri's Salon in the South Shores of San Pedro, commuting for many years after the Castro family moved to Huntington Beach in 1963. She loved both coasts. Huntington Beach was her new hometown, but San Pedro was the good old neighborhood.

After retiring from the salon, Dina continued working in the retail barber/beauty supply business. It was there in Santa Ana, CA where she met retired barber Tony Gonzalez. It must have been that certain smile, and their Texas roots that led them to be married November 25, 1989. In their years together, they enjoyed Texas travel, road trips to Las Vegas and Laughlin, fun times at the racetrack, and genealogy research.

Dina was a loving sister, and a doting "Tia, who enjoyed family gatherings, holiday baking, and music. She is survived by her sister, Rosemary and brother-in-law Ray Ojeda of Riverside; nieces and nephews Rosie (Erik) Espino, RaeAnna (Jayson) Ashton, and Raul Ojeda. Also survived by sister Diane (John) Mitchell; nephews Dan (Viviane) and Steven Mitchell of Hershey , PA and brother Ernest Castro. Dina is also remembered by nephew Rick (Shelly) Castro of Escondido and niece Michelle Castro Roberts of Chino. Having had no children, "Tia" eagerly anticipated the birth of each and every great-grand niece and nephew. She truly cherished her family.

Enedina was preceded in death by her husband of 22 years Aurelio Antonio "Tony" Gonzalez; parents Rudolph E and Mercy L Castro of Huntington Beach; brother and sister-in-law Rudy Jr and MaryLou Castro of Chino, and her niece Debbie Castro Marcotte of Chino.

Until the Twelfth of Never we will be loving our Tia.
