ELOIS MITCHELL Obituary

Elois Ernestine Mitchell went home to her Heavenly
Father on May 26, 2021. Elois, known more
commonly as Lois, or “Sparsh” to close friends and
family, was born in Riverside on August 4, 1929. She
was the second of three sisters, and had a very close bond with her sisters
Virginia and Helen. After the passing of her mother at a young age, Lois and her
sisters were raised by their grandparents, spending most of their formative years
in Riverside. Lois enjoyed working in bookkeeping – first at a bank and later as
the head bookkeeper for the Santa Ana River Water Company. It was during her
time working at the bank that she met her husband Loren, who she married on
December 9, 1960. Lois was an endlessly devoted wife and mother, working at
the water company and as a homemaker while raising her three children, Brian,
Cindy, and Thomas. In “retirement” Lois co-owned and co-ran the successful
Mitchell Piano Company with her husband Loren and enjoyed traveling the
United States in their GMC motor home. When she wasn’t hosting regular
gatherings of kids, grandkids, sisters, and other family, Lois enjoyed sewing,
gardening and caring for her animals. Lois’ Christian faith played a strong role in
her life and she was a member of Grace Community Church in Riverside for
many years. All those who knew Lois would agree she had a servant’s heart,
joyfully putting the needs of others above her own throughout her entire life. Lois
is reunited in heaven with her parents, grandparents, husband Loren, and sisters
Virginia and Helen. She is survived by her children Brian (Betty), Cindy, Thomas
(Kathy), grandchildren Andrew, Daniel, Seth, Markie and Lindsey. A private celebration
of Lois’ life will be held on Saturday, June 12th. She will be laid to rest by her husband in Riverside National Cemetery.
