Edwin “Ed” Frederick Ebel passed away October 22, 2021 and was born March 8, 1938 to Ezra and Hilda (Wiest) Ebel in Riverside, CA. He is survived by one of his three sons Richard Leslie (and Charlene) Ebel in Cheyenne, WY. He is preceded in death by his wife Helen (McConnell), sons James Edwin Ebel and Howard John Ebel and one grandson James Frederick Ebel all of Riverside. He was a loving and favorite uncle by many.
Self-employed most of his life, Dad was a licensed contractor with the state of California and Owner/operator of Ebel Tractor Rental - a heavy construction equipment company and a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 12. Dad and Howard graded and excavated the way for places like Spanos Construction, CA DOT and all over southern California. Spending weekends with family and friends at the river water skiing, cruising scenic byways or racing in the sand dunes were his favorite pastimes. He always made time to spend with his family and spent countless hours in the shop repairing and modifying various equipment to suit their needs. He was a quiet man and humble man, saying few words but withheld a vast amount of knowledge in machines of all kinds, western movies and to my surprise and delight botany. Ed “Dad” was foremost a loving family man and friend.
A graveside service will be held November 19, 10:00 at the Olivewood Memorial Park and a friends and family gathering will be at the family house following the service.
