Duane Ridgeway Erlandson was born in Lewistown, MT on July 16, 1932, the eldest son of Alfred Cornelius and Lucille Erlandson. He passed away on August 25, 2024 in Riverside, CA. He grew up in Denton, MT along with his brother Richard and sisters Elaine and Lou Anne. He often talked about graduating from Denton High School with only 11 classmates.
In 1952-53 he served on the front lines in the Korean War. Designated the BAR man, he was later transferred to driving ammunition trucks when the army found out he could drive a grain truck.
In 1967, he emigrated to Australia working as a surveyor where he met his future wife, Gillian Braden, who had emigrated from England. They lived in various western states during their 54 year marriage, as they followed Duane’s job with Western Area Power Administration but spent the majority of their marriage in Montana.
He is survived by his sons Thomas (Jill) and James (Hollee), and four grandchildren: Connor, Braden, Elizabeth and Ethan as well as his brother Richard and sister Elaine.
Memorial Service will be on Friday, September 20, 2024 in Akes Family's "Chapel of the Chimes" at 10:30 am.
Burial services will be scheduled in Montana.
