David Albert Burke was born in Duluth, Minnesota on September 28th 1934 to his parents Albert Burke and Ellen Fox Burke. Together his parents had 6 children, David Burke being the oldest; next came sister Judy Devine (departed), then sister Jeanette Bovin of Apple Valley, Brother Fredric “Tony” of Wofford Heights, Sister Candice Reese of Moreno Valley, and lastly youngest brother Billy (departed). Somewhere along the way in life the family moved to Hammond, Indiana where David met his first love Dorothy Boychuck who was from Blue Island, Illinois. They were united in marriage on October 21st 1952 and not long after they had their first child Brandal “Brandy,” eighteen months later came first and only daughter Cheryl “Cheri,” and then two years after that James “Jim” was born.
Shortly after James was born the family moved to Riverside, California where most of their life was spent. David was a dedicated employee and had many careers through his life, some of which were with Rohr Aircraft, Riverside General Hospital, and lastly he ended up at UC Riverside where he retired as housekeeping supervisor. He received many awards in his working career for his dedication and attention to detail. David and Dorothy were united in Marriage for 52 years in total until his love was sadly taken by cancer. David and Dorothy are both survived by all their children and many grandchildren. Brandy has 5 children and 11 grandchildren, Cheri has 2 children and 4 grandchildren, and Jim has 3 children and 6 grandchildren.
Some years after being widowed David met the second love of his life, Rose Hetzler, whom he loved greatly. Over the years David grew close with Roses children and even considered Mishele and Deidre to be as his own. They lived many happy years together and had great times and many happy adventures with all their combined children. Some of their favorite hobbies were going on cruises with family and having casino trips to test their luck! David Burke will be greatly missed by his last love and many children and grandchildren.
