CRAIG STEWART Obituary

Craig Theodore Stewart passed away on Wednesday, March 6th, 2024, at the age of 76.  He was born in Charles City, Iowa to Theodore Robert Stewart and Marian Elizabeth Stewart.  Craig was the youngest of two children.  His sister, Robin, was born 4 years prior.

At eight years old, his family moved to Fullerton, CA where Craig lived until enlisting in the Army in the summer of 1969.  He served in the Army, stationed in Washington D.C.  It was during his time in the Army that he met the love of his life, Carol.  The two were married on February 5th, 1972 and they left D.C. for California.

Eventually settling in Riverside, CA, Craig opened Motor Parts & Equipment, an auto parts store which he operated for the next 25 years.  During this period of his life, he and Carol had a son, Christopher Craig Stewart.

In the year 2000, Craig closed the shop to move to Long Beach, CA with his wife.  Craig invested in real estate until eventually fully retiring with Carol and moving to Seal Beach, CA.

Throughout his life, Craig had many interests and hobbies.  During childhood, he was a Boy Scout and eventually earned the rank of Eagle Scout.  Craig was passionate about cars and driving; from his Porsche 914 to his BMW M3, Craig loved sports cars and “spirited” driving.  As members of Magnolia (Avenue Baptist) Church, he and Carol were active in many areas of the church during their time in Riverside.  After relocating to Seal Beach, they became very involved in Grace Community Church.  Craig’s passion for music was reflected in his participation in the choirs of both churches.  Craig also loved all things Scotland.

Craig was predeceased by both parents, and his sister, Robin Lakes.  Craig is survived by his wife, Carol; their son, Christopher; their grandson, Dylan; his niece, Emilie Vangilder; and his grandnephews, Alexander Stroud, and Dane Vangilder.
