Carol Law Tong, 88, of Riverside, California, passed away peacefully in her sleep at home on Saturday, August 9, 2025.
Born on Wednesday, December 16, 1936, in San Francisco, California, Carol was the beloved daughter of Chow and Ow Chong. She later married the love of her life, Henry Tong, and together they shared 70 wonderful years of marriage.
Carol was a proud graduate of Polytechnique High School in San Francisco. She went on to earn her B.A. in Education from San Jose State University and her Master’s in Education from Azusa Pacific University. For more than 25 years, Carol dedicated her career to teaching, serving as an educator with the Moreno Valley School District, Beaumont School District, and the California Department of Education, where she devoted over 20 years of service.
Beyond her professional achievements, Carol lived a vibrant life filled with joy and passion. She loved ballroom dancing, motorhome adventures, attending live theater, and had a special fondness for pandas. Her heart for service shined through her active membership at Riverside Elks Lodge #643, where she was honored as Elk of the Year. She also gave her time generously volunteering with the Lifestream Blood Bank and Friends of the Library.
Carol is survived by her devoted husband, Henry Tong; her children Debbie, Ernie, and Julie ; grandchildren Stephen, Tiffany, Emily, Joshua, Nathan, Mark, Taylor, McKenna, and Talia; along with seven cherished great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Chow and Ow Chong, her sister, Laura Fong, and her brother, William Law.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, September 14, 2025, from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Riverside Elks Lodge #643, 6166 Brockton Avenue, Riverside, CA 92506.
