CAREN HOLM Obituary

Caren Holm of Riverside, passed away peacefully in her home, under the care of hospice and surrounded by family on May 4, 2024. Caren Ann Holm was born to Edith (Borud) and Harlowe Holm on December 1, 1950 in Fargo, North Dakota. Caren grew up attending St Mark's Lutheran Church in Fargo and was later confirmed in her faith at Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd in Moorhead, MN where she grew up and attended school. She graduated from Moorhead High School in 1968, she attended Moorhead State where she received her undergraduate degree in Speech Pathology and Special Education. She later attended St. Cloud State where she received her master's degree.  After graduating, Caren worked at Faribault State Hospital before moving on to District 287 in the Minneapolis area of Minnesota. She had a wonderful opportunity to move overseas to England for the department of defense. She taught on an Air force base for 2 years before moving to Riverside, California. Caren taught at Corona-Norco Public School district until 2013 when she retired.  Although Caren moved away after college, she spent every summer in Minnesota with family and friends. Caren, along with family purchased a lake cabin on Roy Lake near Mahnomen, Minnesota in 1997. The cabin quickly became Caren's favorite place to be; whether she was listening to the loons sing, watching sunsets, laughing with the neighbors, picking raspberries, staying up late playing cards, reading her many books or watching her great nieces and nephews play and grow up.  Caren was a member of the Sons of Norway, she cherished her Norwegian heritage and loved learning about it. Caren had a true love of books and was known to give them to the many people she loved, always writing an inscription in the front cover.  Friends became family everywhere Caren lived, she was deeply loved and will be missed by so many. Private family services will be held in Minnesota. She is survived by her sister Pat Enderle of Fargo, North Dakota, nieces Heather Stephens of Fargo, ND and Kyla (Marshall) Anderson of Moorhead, MN, great nieces and nephews Kaden Armstrong, Elley Kemper, Emma Leichtenberg, Olivia Kemper, Bella Anderson, and Tatum Stephens, many cousins as well as many friends that meant the world to her.
