BETTY JEAN MILLER Obituary

Betty was born to Roy and Eva Taylor on June 30th, 1933. she was a twin but her twin, like her brother, Alexander, was deceased at birth. So Betty was raised an only child. Betty’s life began in Riverside and she lived in Barstow, CA and Prescott, AZ in her early years.

Bettyjean attended Magnolia Elementary, Central Jr. High, and graduated from Polytechnic High School (which is now RCC). She attended church regularly and when she was 17, five airmen from March AFB visited The Union Church. Five girls chose who they would eventually marry.

Betty married Don Miller one week after her 18th birthday. She attended a business college and got a job at Norton AFB as a key punch operator.

Don & Betty had three children; James, Sharon, and Evelyn. Betty loved being a mom and found a job that allowed her to be present when the kids were home. Mom was creative and fun. She made costumes and clothes for us and our dolls. She was also an excellent cook and passed on many delicious recipes. Mom was very social and we visited family and friends on weekends and vacations.

She was a member at Grace Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school, sang in the choir, and participated in many activities and Bible studies.

She was a school Librarian at Fremont and then Jackson elementary schools for 32 years. She made many lifelong friends there. At work, she played Volleyball at lunch and was always on the social committees. She was a member of the Woodenheads moms group and monthly Bunco and JOY clubs. Betty was always up for a party, sleepovers, and board or card games.

When her kids were grown and the grandkids came along she was always happy to babysit Jonathan and Craig or Beky and Jeremiah. She loved to attend whatever sports or activities they were involved in. She even babysat Jayme, her first great grandchild.

Betty developed dementia in her later years. Her family cared for her until she moved to Raincross Memory care where she made friends with residents and staff with her sense of humor and robot cat, Miss Kitty.  Betty fell and broke her arm on June 5th and then declined rapidly until her passing on June 19th, 2025.

Betty was predeceased by her husband Don (63 yrs of marriage), and her daughter, Sharon (70).

She is survived by her children: Jim (Linda) Miller, and Evelyn (Don) Lee; grandchildren: Jonathan (Kim) Miller, Craig (Christie) Miller, Beky (Daniel) Balboa, Jeremiah (Laura) Lee; 10 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren.

We are grateful to the staff at Raincross and Holistic Hospice for the loving care she received in her last days. We miss her, but we trust God’s mercy and timing as we know she is in heaven with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Visitation will be on Saturday, July 19, 2025 at Bridges Church in Riverside, Ca from 11:00am -12:00pm and Funeral Service will begin at 12:00pm with a luncheon to follow.
