Benjamin Wayne Walker of Riverside, California, was called to his Heavenly Home on Sunday, April 30,
2023. He was 88. Benjamin, known as both “Wayne” and “Ben” throughout his life, was born in
Farmington, Arkansas, to Ben and Jessie (Lewis) Walker, the second of four brothers, all of whom
preceded him in death.
He headed west as a young man, finally settling in Southern California, which became his home for life.
The lessons learned from his humble beginnings on the farm in Arkansas – faith, honesty, hard work, an
appreciation for the land and animals – never left him.
Ben thoroughly enjoyed living life. Over the years he spent a good amount of time fishing, golfing,
growing a garden, bowling, and playing cards. He appreciated music and was known to burst into
spontaneous song at random moments. He enjoyed books and was a prolific storyteller himself – as
anyone who witnessed him holding court at the dining table would attest.
He was partner-owner of Triangle Mechanical, Inc (TMI) for many years prior to retiring. He was a
founding member of Canyon Crest Country Club and a lifetime member of the Elks Club.
Ben is survived by Vera, his loving wife of 50 years. They were blessed with many good friends with
whom they shared fun times and adventures. He is also survived by their blended family of 7 children:
Nita Walker of Medford, OR; Susan Rausch (Paul Privateer) of WA State; Robert (Tamara) Walker of
Klamath Falls, OR; David (Nancy) Rausch of San Dimas, CA; Russell (Lois) Walker of San Antonio, TX,
Steven (Kim) Rausch of Irvine, CA, and Katy (Marvin) Reece of Menifee, CA, as well as 14 grandchildren,
21 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild.
Services will be held Friday, June 2nd at 11:00 a.m. at Magnolia Church in Riverside, CA.
Arrangements entrusted to the care of Akes Family Funeral Home, Riverside, California.
