On December 28, 2024, Barbara T. Mendiola-Marshall, a beloved wife and mother, passed away in her hometown of Riverside, California, at the age of 61. Barbara was born on the U.S. island of Guam on January 31, 1963. She was the second child of eight to Albina and Vicente Mendiola. The Mendiola family moved to Riverside in 1979, and Barbara was a lifelong resident, graduating high school (in 1981) and working at retail stores (for about 16 years) in Riverside. On November 20, 1993, Barbara married Richard E. Marshall, and together they had two children: Brittany and Garrick.
Barbara loved the Garfield and Peanuts comic strip characters, watching TV shows like Friends and The Big Bang Theory, and taking family trips to San Francisco and Las Vegas, among many other things. She enjoyed shopping at Hobby Lobby and decorating her house for Christmas, which was clearly her favorite holiday. Barbara was always there in every way possible for her family, with a very selfless and generous heart during birthdays, holidays, and times of need. Barbara loved her family, and no one was ever forgotten. Most of all, her love for her children was unconditional, and this showed, for example, in how she always went all out for them during birthday celebrations with the family.
In addition to her husband Richard, daughter Brittany, and son Garrick, Barbara is survived by her mother Albina; sisters Maria Muna and Joanna Villanueva; brothers Joseph, Darrell, and Allan; father-in-law Fred; sister-in-law Roberta; and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews. Barbara will always be remembered, missed, and loved by all her loved ones.
Visitation will be on Thursday, January 16, 2025 in Akes Family's "Chapel Of The Chimes" from 10:00 am -11:30 am with funeral service to follow.
Graveside service will be following the funeral at Olivewood memorial Park at 1:00 pm.
