Anna Jane leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories. She is survived by her son Daniel (Suzanne) McMillin, her daughter Michele (Kenneth) Lewallen, six grandchildren, Kristopher, Jayme, Jason, Michael, Jacob, and Justyne, and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, James Stribrny, her son Randel McMillin, and her parents and siblings.
Anna Jane grew up in Punxsutawney, PA where she was the youngest of eight siblings. She loved to talk about growing up in her big family surrounded by cousins, nieces, and nephews. Her parents had a small grocery store and later a restaurant. Her grade school had one teacher, one classroom, for eight grades and she loved art. She said that the blackboard became her canvas.
Anna Jane graduated from Punxsutawney High School in 1951 and moved to California shortly thereafter. With her background in art, she worked for photographers retouching photographs and also tinting black and white photos. She loved painting portraits, children and angels. She received awards from the Beverly Hills Art Association and the Arlington Art Guild of Riverside. She was commissioned to paint children by the Riverside Unified School District. When she was in her late 40’s, she went to San Bernardino Valley College and started her second career of Drug and Alcohol Counselor, a role that brought her immense fulfillment.
Anna Jane and her husband Jim lived in Moreno Valley, CA and eventually retired to their cherished desert home on five acres in Landers, CA. She continued to paint and she signed her paintings with IBG, Inspired By God.
Anna Jane was a remarkable individual. She was always smiling. She fed everyone who walked in the door and made them feel like family. She will be remembered for her hats. Her laughter and joy for life will be missed.
A private family interment at Riverside National Cemetery will be held to honor Anna Jane’s life and memory.
