Angela LaTeya Henry was born on December 22, 1961 to Johnie L. Grant and Evelyn J. Potter at the Eglin Air Force Base, Florida. Angela was the eldest of six children.
Angela graduated from Dorsey High School in 1979 and studied at the University of Southern California for two years. She was employed with the United States Postal Service for many years. Later, Angela pursued a career as a Medical Assistant and worked in the Ophthalmology Department at Kaiser Permanente for over 20 years..
Angela met her high school sweetheart, Dayne in 1977. The couple wed on June 7, 1986. They would experience many wonderful times and difficult times throughout their marriage, but stayed rooted in their faith through it all., and remained very close friends. Angela had a big, beautiful heart. She was always warm and welcoming to anyone she would meet. Her love for people knew no limits; her kindness, humor and wit made her a joy to be around. Even at her lowest, she would show up for others to lend a listening ear, cheer them on, or lift them up in prayer. She could also tell you who was having good sales! Angela loved her family fiercely, there has never been a prouder Momma, and Granny. She was also an incredible friend, with friendships spanning several decades. Angela was truly special.
Angela leaves behind to cherish her memories: Husband Dayne; mother Evelyn and father Johnie; daughters Brittany Latona -Ed.D in higher education (Robert Latrona), Ashley Henry - 1st grade teacher; sons Dayne Henry Jr. - graphic artist (Yvette Henry), Ryan Henry (Melissa Henry) and Jordan Henry (Suzanna). Grandchildren; Raven (15), Adiah (12), Jeremiah (11), Ariyabella (10), Leonardo (10), Lorelei (7), Caylianya (14 months) and Isaiah (9 months). Sister Sharman, brothers Sean, Jon (Rosalie), Reggie (Christine), brothers in law Leroy, Averill (Bridgett), and sister-in-law Anne (David). In addition, Angela leaves a host of nieces, nephews and cousins whom she loved dearly, as well as many friends.
Angela is now reunited with her beloved sister Cheryl, and mother-in-law Mamie.
Memorial Service will be in Grimes-Akes Family's "Grace Chapel" on Thursday, October 9, 2025 at 11:00 am.
