Alfred “Papa Al” Erwin Thuyns
1949 – 2025
Alfred Thuyns, age 75, passed away on May 6, 2025, after a courageous battle with prostate
cancer. Born in Indonesia on December 15, 1949, Al built a life filled with family, friendship, and
a passion for smoked meats.
Al had a distinguished career as a Safety Manager, overseeing numerous projects where his
dedication to workplace safety and well-being earned him great respect and admiration.
Outside of work, Al’s love for smoking meats led him to create Al’s Smoke House—a beloved
hobby that brought joy to family and friends.
He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend.
Al enjoyed spending time with his family, watching courtroom television shows, and was always
ready with a strong opinion on current events.
Al was preceded in death by his father Julian, his mother Agatha, and his sister Martha.
He is survived by his loving wife of fifteen years, Jennifer; his cherished daughter Tonia, son-in-
law Brandon; and his beloved grandchildren Breanna and Dustin. He was also blessed with one
great-granddaughter, Colbie.
Al is also survived by his brother August, sister-in-law Carol, and their children Ryan, Marni, and
Robby; by his sister Patricia, brother-in-law Scott, and their children Julian, Jenna, and Jayton.
He leaves behind many nieces and nephews, including Alese, Roman, Kaiteo, Arlo, Colin, Owen,
CJ, as well as numerous extended family members and friends who will miss him dearly.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, June 21, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Grimes-
Akes Family Funeral Home, located at 500 W 7th St, Corona, CA 92882.
He leaves behind a legacy as rich as his smoked brisket and as bold as his opinions.
