On October 24, 1939, Albert Martin Landry, Affectionately known as Marty, was born in Los Angeles, California to Albert Alfonse Landry and Montese Mann Landry. Seven children were born of this union: Shirley, Allene, Naomi, Marty, Leona, Carol and Harlan.
Marty accepted Christ at an early age, thus planting the seed for his calling to the ministry. MArty graduated from Compton's Centennial High School in 1957. Soon thereafter, Marty met Pearl Diane Beauford. The couple united in matrimony in Los Angeles on June 30, 1962. Three children were born of this union: Craig, Carl and Alan. Pearl and Marty were married for 52 years.
Marty was a veteran of the United States Army where he achieved the rank of Corporal. Professionally, he served as Sr. Engineer at Raytheon (formerly Hughes Aircraft) in El Segundo, California. He retired in 1999. During his tenure, Marty worked in defense guidance systems, satellites, and radar. At home, if there was anything in need of repair, Marty would figure it out. All things mechanical and mathematical came to him naturally. Marty's hobbies included motorcycling, tennis, fishing, camping, photography, and biking: his interests were health and wellness.
Marty was called to become an ordained minister in 2002. He was the senior pastor and founder of the Holywood Healing Rooms in Los Angeles. Congregants visited Pastor Al for ministry and prayer, particularly for physical and emotional wounds. Marty volunteered and worked with many prayer teams and church organizations, including Harvest Rock, Ocean Gate Ministries, and The Gathering Place to name a few. In 2008, Marty and church cohorts traveled to Shenzen, China, and its outlying villages to minister and distribute Bibles. In 2015 Marty made his pilgrimage to Jerusalem to walk where Jesus walked. While in the Holy Land, he visited the Garden Tomb and the Wailing Wall where he prayed for friends and loved ones. A prayer warrior through and through, Marty also made frequent trips to San Diego to serve and pray for those in need.
Pearl, the love of Marty's life, was called home to the Lord on October 8, 2014. On October 31, 2022 the Lord called Marty home to join her. Marty was predeceased by his parents and two sisters, Allene Holland and Leona Thor. Marty leaves to celebrate his life three sons and two daughters-in-law: Craig Landry and wife Wandisa Landry, Carl Landry, Alan Landry and wife Tinisha Landry; four grandchildren: Daniel Landry, Summer Landry, Robert Landry, and Sophia Landry; brother Harlan Landry; sisters Shirley Hauben, Naomi Landry, and Carol Price; sister-in-law Julie Griffin; and a host of dear cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. Let us rejoice in knowing this man of God, father grandfather, brother and friend is dancing in the presence of the Lord.
